I love how you're using Pinterest for this! Since I'm more a verbal than visual person, though, here's my idea: Enhance the room with small potted trees that donors can "adopt." A collection box allows book swap users to donate to a tree-replanting program to offset the use of paper.
I'd really like book swap place to be relaxed with some comfy seats, rocking chair would be nice and hammock chairs. And well obviosly lots of place to bookshelves! For example tall bookshelves and they could have chalkboard paint on the borders so people could write messages and maybe what kind of books are in which shelf. It would be nice addittion if there would be some kind of recommendations-shelf, where some of the people working at the airport could put their recommendations from the book swap place. I think it would be also cool if you could somehow trace down where from your new book came from or possibly where the book you left there is going maybe have like own twitter channel for the books and showcase it on the screen at the place. I'd really like if the place could showcase some changing charities or causes at the place, especially the ones which focus on enhancing literacy, and have a point where people can leave their small coins for the charity, kind of like the exchange for taking a book with them :)

well, i'm still working on a draft ;)
but one thing to consider. this isn't a huge space. I doubt there would be too much room to put a big comfy couch, which is a good thing, as this is a place to swap your book , not a cafe/library. I think it's a place that's supposed to be inviting, yet, you don't spend too much time there. You go in, look for an interesting book, swap, and you take it to the cafe or to the gate and read. But depending on the size of the room, I do think maybe a bench or two would be needed (to put down selected books , as we tend to pick out lots of books, and then narrow our choices down. )

i think at least half the wall space should be dedicated to book shevles/displays, as for seating space, a couple small coffee tables, and cushy chairs with armrests, maybe a few hammocks or reclining chairs. :)

Great idea! I love a book swap - and came across one right at the library of Hotel Indigo Shanghai On The Bund (hotel guest are invited to 'give and take' a book of their choice so the collection is essentially curated by our guests from around the world.

Great, looks nice!

This seems to have the same idea I introduced in september as a response to post by Ivana Helsinki here at QH2 pages.

The design showroom seems to be stylish and the white space gives it a very refreshing look. Good work!

This sounds very exciting, as the art will be displayed around the airports, so it will enjoy maximum exposure :) I hope there will be descriptions accompany the display, maybe from the artist talking about the inspiration, meaning or story behind the piece. It will definitely a great way for passengers to spend some time and learn something interesting.

As the Helsinki airport offer free wifi connection, and the login page could be a great way to promote this art gallery. Like a link to an information page related to the art gallery, featuring the artists and descriptions of the displaying pieces! Could be so great to act as a digital guide :) Oh… maybe I'm going over board right now. But if I have free time in the airport, have wi-fi and see an interesting art piece, what's better than reading about it on my mobile device?

I hope we'll get to see some pictures updates!

Hi Yuval,

I am planning to visit israel this summer. I am amazed at the ridiculous prices for a family of four. We are coming on July 30th through August 11th. We are really hoping to stay in a place with a pool. My sister lives in Ramat Gan and we would like to be near her, but we are willing to look as far as Herzelia ( or 15 miles in either direction). Do you think you can help us? Do you have any suggestions?
Thanks.

PS. I think it's very important that the art installed in the airport is communicated on the spot. The background and story of the piece of art should be available for passengers in order to create better understanding and interest, and so that the art does not disappear in a jungle of what could be perceived as "random" art. Communicate the strory of the art through a traditional info plate next to the installation and combine it with a video or QR-codes which navigate smartphone users to more info.
